This is one of my favorite images from 2018 - main square of the medina in Marrakech.
There are a dozen rooftops around this square and they are all packed with tourists. Some of them are photographers. Most are tourists enamored with the sounds, smells and sights below. After slowly edging your way through the crowd for thirty minutes you finally reach the edge of the balcony where you can get a clear field of view. If you're lucky enough to set up a tripod, someone is going to kick it so good luck getting a long exposure after dark. I got three good frames on my last visit here and happy that one of them turned out this nicely.
I'm not one for romanticizing the practice of photography. It's really just paying attention and executing. The magic; if any, is determined only in the eyes of the viewer. For me, this image takes me to a place that has captured my imagination and senses. If I've done it well then maybe it does the same for you...?
