Rice Fields A or B?

by Kevin Wenning February. 15, 2019 370 views

This is a photo that I haven't touched for a couple of years. When I originally edited it I was very much into saturating my colors and vibrance. I don't hate the original color edit, but I'm partial to the black and white plus I think the crop makes for a cleaner subject and narrative.

These are the sort of rice fields you see everywhere in residential areas of the country like Green Bay Indonesia as opposed to the massive terraced commercial rice fields on Bali.

Color version for me, although a bit oversaturated

Yep, I went through a stage of crosstoning and oversaturating everything. I still like color but I'd like to think I'm more controlled and natural about it now.

Thank you Peter. Any particular reason you like the color version?

The color is wider. In the monochrome you loose details in the green. The sky in the color version is more outspoken, maybe making the sky a bit darker in the monochrome helps.
