I woke well before sunrise to photograph at this temple in Yogyakarta Indonesia. The clouds never broke so the amazing sunset I was hoping for never happened. And as travel photography goes, I only had one day here so I couldn't return the next morning and hope for better conditions.
Fortunately a pair of Hindu monks came to do their morning prayers; which frankly fascinated me, and made for a real point of interest. They paid no mind to the hundreds of tourists; me included, and they continued as if they had the place to themselves.
If you look closely at that first image you'll see kind of a mess of photo editing. I still like the idea of the photo but the execution is just yuck. Only the pixel peepers will care though I think. I've seen hundreds of photos of this place, and was looking to come away with an image that was unique.
When you're photographing a place like this, what sort of images do you look to make?
