Shinkansen

The Japanese have a rather fantastic express train service called ‘Shinkansen’ which they're very proud of, and for good reason! The trains that run on these lines are usually nicknamed ‘bullet trains’ for their super-streamlined design and speed! They all have fantastic names too, with the slowest services called ‘Kodama’ (Kodama means echo..), the middle speed services Hikari (light..) and the fastest ‘Nozomi’, which means hope! They're quite incredibly fast compared to any trains England has to offer, for example when we travelled to Tokyo from Kyoto which was 230 miles or so it took a mere 4 hours or thereabouts.
The Shinkansen in the photo below is an older ‘100 series’ train.

This is one of the newer ‘300 series’ Shinkansen. Looks pretty cool! Station is Tokyo.

Another ‘300 Series’ Shinkansen.

I quite like this design of train. looks purposeful somehow.

This is an even newer ‘500 series’ Shinkansen. Shaped more like a jet fighter than train!

This is one of the newest trains currently in service between Kyoto and Tokyo, the ‘700 series’ Shinkansen.

It has a big nose…

Almost looks like a shoe…
