Day 38: Night Sky

by Ivan Steenkamp February. 09, 2017 434 views

This weeks theme of blue got me thinking... I thought all day and then it came into my head that the sky can be blue at night! After sunset I got my tripod and camera and went outside. I dressed up in thick jacket and pants so that I would last longer outside.

I composed the photo so that the footpath and fence posts would lead your eyes into the photo and towards the clouds and green trees. Our house is behind those trees!

The grass is very dry at the moment. We need more rain! For this weeks theme it was good, though, because it is sort of an orange colour (complementary colour to blue)!

Blue night sky with stars and white clouds blurred. A footpath between yellowed grass. Fence posts on the right going into the distance.

The moon was really bright last night

I composed the photo with the rule of thirds and I also used leading lines. I edited it in Photoshop with Color Efex Pro and Sharpener pro (both are free plugins from Google).

...

Composition is one of the most important things in a photograph.

Love the leading lines and the bright blue of the sky.
This really makes me wanna do some night photography! Have you tried capturing the milky way at night?

Thank you, Ben! I used the Time mode in manual and did 91 seconds. I like the little bit of star trail and cloud blur!
