Day 75: The Mantis' Claw

I had to do indoor photos today so I decided to do some more macro photography. I had a Mantis at my disposal so that is what I shot. I was a bit more lazy today. I just put the mantis in our sofa and got my soft-box and flash out and used my usual macro setup. It came out nice though!

The claws of the Mantis was the most interesting to me. They look like really vicious weapons... I am glad that Mantises are the size the are!

A bright green mantis on a grey fabric. Its back is turned to the camera. The focus is on the huge red and yellow claws.

I am so glad that claws are not as big as I see them on the screen! Did you notice that the Mantis is looking at you?

Photographed with my D5300 and my 50mm lens revers mounted with a cheep reverse ring mount. I used my Yongnuo flash and homemade soft-box and lit the Mantis from the side.

Edited in Photoshop, Camera Raw, Color Efex Pro and Viveza.

...

I have had a very busy week. That is why I am a few days behind with my photos. Thanks for the support. It really makes my day!

I love all the patterns in this post and the colours too, especially the red-tipped spikes of the mantis' claws. They contrast so well with the bright green.

Liked your macro shot :)
Claws look dangerous. But glad that they are only that much in size as you said ;)
