Today's post is one that ties in nicely with a post I did 3 weeks ago about a Monarch butterfly and caterpillar (Day 57: Chasing Butterflies). Now I have the stage in between the butterfly and caterpillar captured!
My Mum brought this chrysalis from our friend's place over to our place so that I could take some photos of it. I did pretty much the same lighting setup as I usually use. An external flash and softbox.
While I was typing the above paragraph I got sidetracked and looked at a few videos of caterpillars transforming into chrysalises. This is my favourite video: Caterpillar to Chrysalis Metamorphosis Timelapse (YouTube).
I have never noticed that when it transforms into a chrysalis it actually sheds its old skin and throws it of. I think it is pretty cool!

I love the vibrant green colour!
