On this lovely day I had the rare opportunity to photograph a skink. The task was not easy... As I'm sure you know, small animals are afraid of big hands and strange apparatus being shoved in their faces! I even made a special set for it to be photographed on so that I would not lose it (the small branch was put int a big tin with things in the tin to keep the branch upright) if it jumped of the branch.
I turned of the lights and used a small flashlight to focus on its cute little face. Towering over its safe haven like a huge suspended ceiling (pulsing with blinding light randomly) was my flash and softbox on a tripod. As I was coaching it to stick out its tongue (I discovered the it found the aroma of my breath interesting) and hoping that it would not scuttle to a new leaf, my finger was pressing the shutter as fast as my flash would refresh. I ended up with many blurry and out of focus shots (which you don't want to see!).
These to are my absolute favourite. I hope you like them too.
