World Cup Maddness

The Rugby World cup starts in Auckland on Friday night. Strangely people have taken to decorating their cars with one or more flags (kiwis don't really do this kind of thing normally) here is a collection from one car park

Hedging their bets - NZ & Japan

4 NZ flags - a bit of an overkill

Slightly blurry but also hedging their bets - South Africa & NZ

Just in case we didn't know what was happening…

My Australian neighbour across the road here has a huge Aussie flag flying from out of his upstairs window - although I notice he didn't start displaying it until AFTER we had beaten the Springboks!

      LOL @ 'nic!
Mel - I think it's a sign you've integrated when you secretly prefer your 'adopted' country's rugby team to your own ;-)

In those dual supporter households, wonder if couples will be speaking to each other after the games?

I read yesterday that this may even make Americans like rugby. We shall see.

I'm so excited for you guys! But then, I like any major sporting event. I'll be watching! Canada is in the same pool at NZ (and France, Japan, Tonga). We're not getting out of that pool even if everyone has horseshoes up their butts.

The only time I really followed rugby was when I was in France at the local Irish pub. The French fans had a live cockerel with them.

It wasn't until a few years ago that Canadians got into that whole flag thing on cars either....just wait - it will spread even more....

This is nothing compared with what you get in the UK during Football World Cup time though, is it!
