Today the father-in-law and his fiancé came to stay for the night. Whilst there are many things that make family staying difficult, it was really lovely to just be able to relax. We were able to exchange the gifts from Christmas. We were luckly enough to receive a beautiful decanter set and Jura whisky and the nostalgia edition of Scrabble with beautiful wooden pieces. We played (and won!) a game of Scrabble and then Scott and his dad played Chess and tried to teach Carole and I. We listened to some classical music, including a CD of Tosca we got for Christmas. I also got to have my first attempt at making Gnocchi. The feedback was good so it must have been OK.

Little things seem nothing, but they give peace, like those meadow flowers which individually seem odorless but all together perfume the air. - Georges Bernanos, French Author
