07.31.13 - Mountain View Cemetery

While some may think it's a bit distasteful to run through a cemetery, John promises me this one is worth the view. For the second time we ran up the mountain in the Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland, just 2 miles from where we are staying. This is what the route looks like:

There are stairs, and I don't like stairs. There is a big hill, and I don't particularly like hills. And, as mentioned, it's a cemetery, which makes me feel a little weird inside. But I brought my camera with and we set off for the sights. From the top hill I snapped some pictures to the southwest, capturing downtown Oakland, the distant bay, and a faint view of the Bay Bridge and encroaching marine layer. John pretended to be a mummy and patiently dealt with my picture taking. We ran by Ghirardelli's grave, which I thought was cool. I may not be able to recollect many famous Italians, but this one I know. Overall a recommended sight to see, especially on foot during the afternoon when the fog is furthest away.
