El bosque animado - The enchanted forest

The forest in Zimbabwe becomes very lively during the dry season around the water pools, which are periodically filled with pumps by foresters from Hwange Park

Hwange borders on Nungu Park and hunting areas in neighbouring Botswana, where no water is artificially provided to the animals. Obviously, everyone who can comes to summer on the Zimbabwean side.

The photos were taken on two visits to Hwange Park, both in August (middle of the dry season), in different years and in different areas of the park

It's at midday that all the bugs calm down; it's too hot, the sun is too strong... better to take a nap in the shade.

I love Africa and I love African safari. Your photos have inspired me to take a retrospective look at some special safari moments that I have been priviledged to enjoy. These will appear on Photoblog when our autumn weather puts me indoors in front of the screen a bit more often - still a backlog of summer pictures yet.

Your photos are truly amazing in so many ways. Its so humbling to see the Elephants in their natural habitat especially when you read so many horrible things about them being hunted.. I so enjoyed looking at these smile

Sorry, I did not see your comment earlier... Thank you so much for looking at my pics and for your comment. Happy you liked them!
I agree: seeing animals in their habitat, particularly when they are bigger than us (or just "dangerous", like a snake) is a humbling experience

Love them all. Very similar to what I've seen in Namibia and Botswana. Thanks for bringing me back good memories.
