Forests that cover large areas, the Amazon rainforest for example, attract huge amounts of water vapor: evaporation and condensation of water in the forest causes the local atmospheric pressure to drop; this drop in pressure in turn attracts humid air, resulting in rain, which further increases the concentration of water vapor in the forest. In other words, this is a positive feedback phenomenon.

a medida que avanza el día, el calor hace que suba más vapor desde la selva / as the day goes on, the heat makes more steam to go up from the jungle

el vapor se acumula y la selva va creando sus propias nubes / the steam cumulates so the jungle creates its own clouds

The best thing about the steam, jungle and rain thing is that when it rains, the herds of tourists hide, so you can take a few pictures of the monuments instead of the visitors.

Rain helped a lot. Going across some yellow lines saying "not to trespass" also helped smile

Beautiful captures! Several years ago my daughter spent sometime in Cusco on a "flying doctors" mission and she shared some of her photos with me of Machu Pichu. Beautiful area. So glad you shared smile

Amazing photos. Yes, #1 is breathtaking, but I also find the stone architecture fascinating.

Thanks Tom, glad you liked the first one. We had to go up all the Machu Pichu mountain, which is a bit hard to do if one is not fit, to take that shot. It was the best part of the trip to Machu Pichu
