Welcome back to my adventures in Israel, I know there have been many Jerusalem posts, so you probably can't believe we only spent 2 full days there. According to all the guide books, the best thing to do on a Saturday is to arrange a Masada and Dead Sea tour, however being the kind of people we are, we had a car and planned to stay in the Ein Gedi hotel, so all we had to do was leave Jerusalem to get to Masada. What we didn't realise is that many roads in Jerusalem close on a Saturday, so getting out was slightly fraught, but we got there in the end.
We had already decided we were going to hike the Snake Path to the top, in 30 degrees heat this was no easy challenge, but totally worth it. It may have taken about an hour but what an achievement and the views were worth every second.
We started at 900 feet below sea level but for those of you less crazy, you can get the cable car up. Next time we will do this so we can get the sunrise or sunset views.
Masada is such an interesting place to visit, it was much larger than I expected. Completely unbelievable that there was a whole town up there including the palaces.
