Morning Hoarfrost

 #photoblog365 Hoarfrost Before Breakfast!

#photoblog365 Hoarfrost Before Breakfast!

Before I went to bed last night, I noticed fog rolling in. Knowing that the warm up in temps filled the air with moisture and the temperatures destined to drop, I suspected we would have hoarfrost covering this morning.

I got up early, in fear that the sun would come out and melt any frost.

I don't have an official macro lens, so I used my trusty 40-150 2.8 pro lens and set the camera to macro mode. I went out before breakfast to give that a test run.

I was pleasantly surprised by the results on a gloomy day.

Later I will be posting more beautiful images of the lovely winter hoarfrost in Minnesota, as I suspect I will be spending Super Bowl Sunday capturing it's finery.

I love the way those gentle, dark waves of vine contrast with the sharp, linear barbs of frost.  The angles and open spaces you chose to frame... perfect!

Very pretty and your lens did a very good job.....but then again it is not the lens that matters it is the photographer behind the lens. You obviously know what you are doing smile

Thanks Camellia!
It's a new camera I am just learning, so excited to figure out all the features, bells, whistles, etc.
I'm often surprised at the capabilities packed into these cameras.
I must admit, good glass does help a lot.
And so does a good Electronic Viewfinder!

I just posted my favorite hoarfrost photos from this morning in a blog. I took hubby out this afternoon and we took shots of the scenery. I am going to post them tomorrow.
Appreciate all of your comments!

Thanks Bill,
Many more to come!
I took hubby out on a hoarfrost adventure today.
Just got home!
I'm photo journaling because my hard drives keep crashing, so I plan to post my favorites in blogs. LOL
