Snowflake Accumulation

Little Rebel Snowflakes

I have been waiting for it to snow, to get some macro shots before winter ends.

Today it is snowing, but it's tiny crystal like snow with few actual flakes.

I did a hand held test shot to see if it was worth setting up the tripod and unfortunately it's not promising. I did like the accumulation of snow in this picture, sort of abstract in and out of focus.

I like the blurry effect, makes the snow flakes softer

Thanks Lisa!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I'm totally amazed that our modern cameras & lenses can capture them in that large of magnification, without cropping!

I like the effect you achieved by the different approach you took to capturing the flakes

Thanks Pete!
I have to credit these modern camera/lens combinations. In the old days, I would reverse a manual prime 50mm over a manual lens and you were lucky to capture a flake in focus and the lens would blur everything else out!
Needless to say, I am pretty stunned when I capture a whole frame that has even partial flakes in focus! (no cropping).
So yes, I agree-It's nice to see a different approach (but it's even nicer to have the capability to shoot it with a different approach)smile
