I spotted this male Ruffed Grouse on a log-drumming for mates. It's amazing how camouflaged they are in the brush being the same color as the tree bark. I wouldn't have noticed him, but heard him drumming.

Beautiful! I've only ever seen a grouse flying away in a panic, so it's amazing to see the detail in their beautiful feathers!

I'm glad I could capture it for you then, they do have beautifully detailed feathers!
Usually they are pretty flighty, but it's getting towards mating season, and he's sitting on his drumming log!
I should be able to go back and get pics on the same log when it warms up a bit.

I like the ruffed grouse the best. Leads to the philosophical question can it really be hidden if it can be seen? I was pondering that as I first attempted to take nature pictures for this topic. Nice job
