On the Move is a photo series that showcases unforgettable places I've visited.
This trip to Amsterdam was the first time I had been to mainland Europe. I wasn't sure of what to expect at first, but was surprised at how accessible everything was when navigating through the city. I was there for work, but had made a personal goal to wake up early every morning and explore the city before everyone else was awake.
Walking through the cobblestone streets at 5AM was a very nice change of pace compared to the day before when I walked through the city center at peak hours. Capturing the romantic landscapes with little to no people in them was really special and impossible to do during the day. Not to say that landscape photography can't be amazing with people in the composition, but it depends on what kind of feeling you're going for.
It was a lot of fun to watch and hear the city wake up. Street sweepers would pass by cleaning up the mess from last nights debauchery and well-dressed commuters zipped past on clunky old bikes.
The weather was very calm in the mornings and made for perfect long exposure conditions. Having such great conditions almost made me late to work a few days, but it was worth spending the extra time to capture a few images.
I Hope you enjoyed this post!
