Today is Easter Sunday and children search for colorful eggs which are hidden in the backyards and in parks all over Germany. These eggs are visible in plain sight everyday in a small park near my office.
I often go through this small park when the weather‘s nice and I take a walk on my lunch hour.
The seven stone egg sculpture was made by the artist Renate Hoffleit. She first created 3 eggs in 1999 and added 4 more in 2004. The eggs sit in a bed of gravel which is similar to the way hard-boiled eggs are kept warm on a bed of warm sand on hotel breakfast buffets.
All eggs are made of concrete with some stone chips in the mixture.
