Dave Specter at House of Blues Chicago - 35mm
Just 30 more minutes before midnight to make today's post :-) In order to fulfill today's topic I had to go buy a new lens. Seriously, I only had a 16-50 mm lens when I started the 365 day challenge and I just got a zoom lens about 5 days ago.
If I hadn't bought a new lens I'd probably be photographing the distance between the numbers 35 and 70 on a meter stick.
In order to get 70mm focal point for the same topic, I'd have to change lenses. During the day I realized, it was just too difficult to get the identical frame "free-style" if there wasn't a tripod to hold the exact position. Well, almost, the guitarist did move around on the stage...

Dave Specter at House of Blues Chicago - 70mm
We went to the House of Blues for dinner tonight and I set up my tripod on the bench of our booth and then it was rather easy to keep the exact same "frame" and just switch out the lens.
The lighting inside the House of Blues was an additional challenge where I spent 10 minutes or more adjusting the white balance to overcome the reds of the background.
Looks like the zoom definitely came in handy. Is you tripod a regular size? Just curious how it fit on the bench.
I use an old Velbon T-3500 with extendable legs. They extend in 2 steps. I expanded only one step. No one at HoB seemed to mind. However, they won't allow you to use a flash since it bothers the musicians
Thank you for your response. It all makes sense now
