The sculpture of the madonna and child is set into the corner of Haus Meder, which is a registered historic landmark in the Old Town of Heidelberg, Germany. This is a replica of the original sculpture which is now in a local museum.
The rays of the setting sun were like a spotlight illuminating only the sculpture. The windows and facade to the left and right are not lit up. The artist, Peter van den Branden, must have planned it with precision to achieve this effect.
And I got lucky to be there at the precise moment of illumination.
