I turned the corner into The Park just off the Strip in downtown Las Vegas and there she was: towering 12 meters (40 feet) above me, gracefully dancing in the setting sun.

The steel dancer weighs over 3 tons yet she looks lightweight - an incredible achievement for the artist Marco Cochrane.

The press release from MGM describes it in the best way:

"The dancer’s form achieves lightness and momentum through ingenious structural engineering using triangulated geodesic struts. Mesh stainless steel “skin” forms the curvatures of a body in motion – an imminent and ethereal mobility that seems to soar through space." *

This sculpture embodies its name Bliss Dance and the essence of "dance like no one is watching".

It was a real treat for me as a photographer to experience the interplay of light and form.

😊 a blushing emoji - I‘m flattered, thank you Jay for the effusive compliment it really made my day! I was feeling a little down and this cheered me up.

(It‘s the hot weather over 100 degrees F) for the third day in a row. There‘s very little air conditioning in Germany so its quite oppressive
