Meditation cushion

Simple is usually not easy.

To perform meditation, you sit still and concentrate on your breathing.

Sounds simple.

For years now, I have tried to practice meditation. It was one of those things which was supposed to be "good for me" to relieve stress. Honestly, I think it just stresses me out even more.

As soon as I sit down on the cushion, the monkey inside my brain grabs the vines in my cerebral jungle and starts swinging all over the place and screeching very loud. It's very much like torture for me.

How can something which looks so simple be so hard?

It is a great thing. Simple but not easy is a perfect description. I use it often for pain reduction or on the flip side to quite the mind.

I usually just fall asleep.....
That's my kind of "meditation" participation, here on PB, will be very spotty, at best, from now through September, due to long a road trip, with little or no computer time.... I'll chime in, when I can....

Hi Jay sometimes I use the breathing technique to fall sleep and it does help for that purpose ( need to be laying down of course) Enjoy your travels!

Try going for a walk. Way easier and it helps fighting stress too (unless of course you get run over by a car) smile

Yes moving always helps me to work off stress, it was easier when I used to go jogging, but unfortunately my knees don’t allow for running anymore so a short walk has to do 🙂

I know the (painful) feeling. And I used to be an ultra walker (non stop distances up to 200 kilometers) ...
