Sign of the Times: "Playground closed"

by Lee Santiva March. 18, 2020 234 views

Our subdivision consists of new housing in which mostly young families live. From my kitchen window I look out at this playground. For years now, no matter what the weather, there were always small children playing and the parents conversing. Today it was closed. It is eerie to have it be so empty and quiet during such nice weather.

All schools in Germany closed for six weeks. This is the second week of school closure and now the playgrounds are closed too.

All young parents are struggling to balance work and caring for their children right now. Six weeks is a very long time especially when the grandparents cannot help out to avoid risking their own health.

I suppose Germany will decide to have a c0mplete lock-down soon as many of the neighboring European countries have already done. That would bring some relief to the parents who otherwise would have to go to work and find some solution for childcare.

The world is full of eerie sights right now! And lots of adjustments for everyone. My mom is already getting anxious about not being able to see her grandchildren, and my brother and his wife (who have 4 little ones under age 7) are missing her help terribly. Hope all is as well as it can be with you!

Hi Bethany thanks for sharing about on your family. I hope you have recovered? Four children under 7? Wow Life must be crazy tor them. My family is fine although I do worry about my 92 yr old father, thank god he’s still in his own house and not a nursing home.

We have a lockdown Belgian style. Everything is closed but you have tp go to work. For the moment we have 14 deaths, just heard the prognose on the news and they think it gonna be 7500 deaths here.

Retail lockdown is what I would call it 🙄 just like in Germany, although now some Automobile production plants are closing as well but not by government order. Don‘t you think it would be better if all businesses closed in a synchronized matter?

That would be the logical thing to do. But money rules. Almost all our bosses work from home. We who do the manual labour are just meat and have to work.
