Our subdivision consists of new housing in which mostly young families live. From my kitchen window I look out at this playground. For years now, no matter what the weather, there were always small children playing and the parents conversing. Today it was closed. It is eerie to have it be so empty and quiet during such nice weather.
All schools in Germany closed for six weeks. This is the second week of school closure and now the playgrounds are closed too.
All young parents are struggling to balance work and caring for their children right now. Six weeks is a very long time especially when the grandparents cannot help out to avoid risking their own health.
I suppose Germany will decide to have a c0mplete lock-down soon as many of the neighboring European countries have already done. That would bring some relief to the parents who otherwise would have to go to work and find some solution for childcare.
