What a day! Fed and watered by Abi, Michael and Tito I was ready to hit the road...armed with jelly beans and a cool fish eye lens (see picture).
Today I cycled solo although accompanied by great tunes and beautiful sunshine. Knocked out 59miles/94km. Had a great snooze by the pool and destroyed one of Byron's famous Belaporto burgers..bit of a de ja vu from yesterday!
So cool to have my bro out here and support car-ing for me tomorrow. Makes all the difference! Great to cross paths with an old mate in Byron too and drum the sunset down on the front, beer in hand.
As I was cycling today, a car pulled up on the hard shoulder ahead and the driver got out. I just cycled on as usual but as I got closer, the guy held his out his hand to me and it was full of 'Celebrations' chocolates. He looked me right in the eyes and said 'safe travels'. Still a bit baffled by it and no doubt the first whacky experience of many to come...
This eve, ALDI has supplied the goods and Jo and I will be cooking up a pesto pasta storm in time for the ride tomorrow! Roll on day 3 out of 14!
Highlights: jelly beans, sun on the water & ice cream (that I haven't eaten yet but it's a guaranteed)
Lowlights: carrying bike up the hostel stairs
