Photo from Day 12, google maps replacement and 2 consecutive punctures later!
Distance: 100km
Ooosh. Today was a long day. 100ks in torrential rain. Unfortunately my phone had taken the hit and decided to conk out half way through at Munchies cafe in Kaluah. I have become pretty good at cafe spotting from google maps and Munchies was a highlight.. despite the looks I got for eating hot chips at 9.30am..
Cycling not knowing where you are and with how long to go is a combination of disheartenment and anticipation as the next big road sign comes into view and you try to make out whether it says 37 or 25 kms to go.
I had arranged to stay at a friends friends house in Newcastle... yes that old tenuous connection. I ended up using a pay phone (!!) and asking a taxi driver (because they supposedly have large hippocampus') where to go. After getting changed in the Newcastle Public library loos and using the computers to get onto Facebook, my host came to the rescue. Fed, watered and put through the tumble drier, I was about back to normal.
Highlights: torrential rain
Lowlights: torrential rain (and broken phone)
