The Wall - Theme: FTF

by Lexlevans January. 30, 2008 571 views

I have been super busy lately but I was thinking about what I wanted to do for the Fill the Frame theme and I remembered this photo I took on a trip to DC a few summers ago. I had taken a few photos for the theme, but kept going back to this one. It has been one of my favorite photos since I took it and I thought it went well with the theme.

The photo is a reflection of my two friends and me in the Vietnam Wall Memorial - one of my favorite memorials. Maya Lin designed the memorial at the very beginning of her career and she's an inspiration to me. My dad had the priviledge of meeting her and I have a photo of the two of them and her cat together from many years ago. My mom bought me a book about her and gave me the photo after he died. You can check out more about Maya Lin's life and works here [en.wikipedia.org].

:-)

This is awesome! I agree with aknor ... your dad sounds like he was a very interesting guy and probably had many wonderful stories to tell.

I also agree with the others here that the reflections of you three REALLY make this shot wonderful. PERFECT FTF shot!

I like this shot, Lex, the reflection of you and your friends makes it come to life. Interesting know the connection of your Father and the woman that designed it...I'm thinking your Father must have been a very interesting man! Thanks for sharing this!
