One of the loveliest parts of China I visited last summer was the mountainous region of southern China near Guilin. China has 54 ethnic minority groups. This picture is of a woman of the Yao minority group. The clothing of both men and women are made of colorful blue and green folk weaves. As shown, the women make and sell beautiful woven items. The women of the minority are allowed to cut their hair only twice in their lives, once when they turn 18 and again when they are married; thus, their hair measures over 4 feet and they fold their hair like turbans on the top of their heads.
