Well ok, I'm being old school: they're really new CDs. Heck, even that's old school these days.
When I was in Philadelphia last week I went to the brilliant a.k.a. music [myspace.com] (thanks to the woman at Kiehl's who told me about it!). After exercising considerable self-control, I managed to leave with only two CDs:
On the left, “Persian Underground: Garage Rock, Beat, and Psychedelic Sounds from the Iranian 60s & 70s Scene”
On the right, Ned Rothenberg, “Quintet for Clarinet and Strings,” performed by Rothenberg and the Mivos Quartet. See annotations for review.
Listening to them for the first time at this very moment! Oh joy; makes sitting inside and studying on a gorgeous day like this worthwhile.
