Day at the Beach

  • Posted June 12, 2011 by Felecia Viewed 537 times

Haystack Rock is a 235-foot (72-meter) tall monolith (or sea stack) rock formation on the Oregon coast in the northwestern United States, the third-tallest such “intertidal” (meaning it can be reached by land) structure in the world. A popular tourist destination, the rock is adjacent to the beach and accessible by foot during low tide. Haystack Rock tide pools are home to many intertidal animals, including starfish, sea anemone, crabs, chitons, limpets, and sea slugs. The rock is also a refuge for many sea birds, including terns and puffins.

#1 - couldn't they add - 'finally, now we have you totally terrified, get out there and have a nice day?'Oh, and they forgot to warn people that sand can get absolutely everywhere and sea water is likely to make you wet…. great set of shots though -

OMG....your world is so exciting!! Can't imagine what it's like to experience this on a daily basis. Said it before and I'll say it again....THANKS for taking the time to share this with us landlocked people ;))) Warning signs around here are in reference to mountain lions, bears, and falling rocks, lol :)))

Looks like a great spot - I love all the driftwood on the shore. But tell me, are "sneaker" waves the kind that wear a particular type of shoe?

Great set Feby! I'd love to be lying on a beach, but after reading that warning sign, I don't think I'd get in the water! LOL!

Laying on the beach, doing nothing. Lucky you - I am sooo jealous!
That's a lot of driftwood and a very nice shot of it!
Have you been out on Haystack rock?

This reminds me of some of the crazy signs around CA... kind of makes you wonder if you want to go near the water! I LOVE that view in the last shot!! What IS that rock? Can you get out there??

Love the last one and the angle of #2! So beautiful!! How different out beaches are, I don't worry about logs, high cliffs and rocks! Unfortunately I went to the beach Sunday and when I tried to take some pics found out I forgot to put in my charging battery! lol!
