Beautiful and Dangerous

When I got to work yesterday morning, I found out that Captain Debbie had gone into the sea off of the outbound ship Navios Ionian. Thank God she was rescued!

Still, I don't think you or I could possibly imagine how traumatic this would be. And I just want to say, I love you Captain Debbie.

Here is one of the many articles [dailyastorian.com] about the incident.

Captain Deborah Dempsey- she is beautiful, yes?

This is the actual life preserver that was thrown to her from the ship she was leaving when she fell into the cold, dark Pacific around 1:50 AM Monday.

The ocean is so beautiful but so dangerous. Most people don't really realize how perilous the Bar Pilot's job is getting on and off these gigantic vessels while the ocean swells rise and fall.

How awful ! I'm very curious if the bar pilots dress in such a way as to anticipate the possibility of going into the water??

Beauty can be sometimes dangerous. This comes from even the most ancient greek tragedies. We must be always wary. Thank god everything end well.

Terrific that all turned out well. I can't imagine the fear to say nothing about the frigid water. Great ocean shot. It is a powerful force.
