A typical English cottage garden

Today my gardens group visited a local private garden which is open for charity as part of the National Open Gardens scheme. Any money collected at these events is shared amongst various charities, selected annually by the Open Gardens scheme.

Fortunately, the rain stayed away for us and we enjoyed wandering around looking at the spring bulbs and early flowering shrubs before having delicious cake and cookies served with a cup of tea, coffee or hot chocolate. One of the things I liked about this garden is the way the owners have landscaped the area in an interesting way and added some garden ornaments to complement the plantings.
