ICE: Chainsaws and Sprinklers

The ice sculptures below were created from huge blocks of ice using chainsaws and other tools. Shots were taken a few weeks ago at the Cripple Creek Ice Festival.

The icicle shots below were taken on the edge of the Broadmoor Golf Course yesterday. Apparently a sprinkler head malfunctioned spraying out water for several hours during the night.

As you can see below it was melting - and at a fast rate. Huge chunks of ice began falling from the trees as the temperature by then was close to 60 degrees. Bet most of the ice was gone within a few hours. Just happened to drive by at the right time :)

I dont think I could bear to be an ice sculptor and see my work just melt away. Nature did a good job on those icicles at the gold course.

Okay. That golf course stuff is the bomb. How did you find out about it? Was it here in the Springs, or up in WP? I wish I'd have been there. JEALOUS.
