Captured some foxes over the weekend. The first four shots were taken on mountain side of Manitou Springs. Came upon them right by the side of the road so it was easy to shoot from the car.

This beautiful little lady was guarding the entrance to this drainage pipe – I assume her kits were in there although we couldn’t see them. We drove by twice and were within a few feet of her but she didn’t budge from her spot. Her mate eventually took safety a few yards up the mountain.

The mother fox's mate.

The look in her eye calmly says, “No, you won't come near my babies.”

The last two shots I took down the street from our house - again from the car. The mama fox has a den for her six kits under an old house. She was alert and aware of everything going on around her. Didn’t seem to be bothered by us but was keeping a very close eye on the barking dog across the street.

So this is what all the excitement is about!

What a great set! Last spring I also got to see a two small ones who had taken up residence under a cottage near ours... like yours they didn't seem to bothered as long as I stayed in the car. This doesn't seem like normal fox behavior however.

Well I like #4, perfect photo of a fox. We're thinking of coming to host at Sylvan Lake, what do you think of that place?

I really pity these cute animals as in fairy tales they are always the tricky bad boys, undeservedly :-)

Great set of nice pictures. The first fox looks a little bedraggled poor thing but that cub is real cute.

What a nice ending to your set. You brought up the mystery of the kits and then gave it to us at the end.
