Gold Camp Road

Gold Camp Road
El Paso County
Colorado Springs, CO

The present Gold Camp Road used to be the travel way for a standard gauge railroad from Colorado Springs to the gold fields of Cripple Creek.
After gold rush days and at the start of auto-tourism it was converted to a vehicular road. Following are sights I captured on Gold Camp Road a few weeks ago when out shooting with my older daughter.

Looking out over “the Springs” (Colorado Springs) as it's know locally.

First outing where I really noticed this wildflower, the Pulsatilla. Now I see them everywhere!

There are several tunnels on Gold Camp Road and a couple have collapsed over time. This one obviously has not, but it's very creepy driving or walking through. I can see why there are so many stories of hauntings in the tunnels…..being in this one left me with an uneasy feeling.
