Trainyard Visions

by Marsha March. 26, 2011 4354 views

While driving though eastern Colorado last week with my daughter we stopped in the little bitty town of Fowler looking for something of interest to shoot. Came across this old abandoned train depot on the edge of town….

This one taken through the window. No people stepping up to this counter anymore to purchase a ticket to some intended destination.

Depot built by the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railway.

The tracks in front of the depot are still in use and trains go by the old building several times a day….but never stop.

Oh, I have to show this whole set to my son, a great fan of all railways, even abandoned. Shot 5 is perfect.

Such a fascinating set - so sad to see great old buildings like these left to rot.

Fantasmical set Marsha! I love every one of them. The ticket window and the tracks may be my favorites but I haven't decided for certain yet.

I love the ticket window. Has a feel of abandonment :-) And of course, the train track shot is awesome.

Marsha, Marsha, Marsha! I've been to Fowler all of my life! My great aunt and uncle had the Diven Canning Company there - they produced all kinds of canned veggies, mainly tomatoes. If you're ever back that way, try to find their old building and grab a shot for me!
