Ancient Pueblo

Back from camping trip. Couldn’t post much while there due to very weak signals - will try to make up for it!

We visited Taos Pueblo during our trip to Taos, New Mexico. So interesting walking around the area and visiting with the people who live there.

“Taos Pueblo is an ancient pueblo belonging to a Taos-speaking Native American tribe of Puebloan people. The pueblos are considered to be one of the oldest continuously inhabited communities in the United States.” -Wikipedia

Wow! Great photo! I had no idea there is a place that looks like this in the States!!! I thought it was somewhere in Africa or South America or Central Asia- very exotic looking. Is this building still used as living quarters?

Yes, people do live there! It’s considered to be the oldest continuously inhabited structure in the US and it’s history goes back 1,000 years. It is a fascinating place!

I loved being there. You could “feel” the history as I’m sure you do in many of the places you visit. These Pueblos are made of adobe...here’s some interesting info: https://home.howstuffworks.com/home-improvement/construction/materials/adobe-construction.htm
