Independence Mine is a historic gold mining site in the Cripple Creek District near Victor, Colorado. It produced approximately 200,000 ounces (6200 kg) of gold during a six year period during the 1890s. This area was very active during the gold rush days of Colorado and still is, but mining, of course, is much higher tech now. For interest, imagination, and photography, however, the old decaying mines offer the best opportunities...in my opinion.

Marsha- you always inspire! I love old mines and have photographed them in the past. Beautiful images here.
Thanks for your kind comment, Buster. Love where I live - so much history!
