I’m drawn to photos cropped to a square format. As I photograph mostly landscapes these days this isn’t always an option, but occasionally it seems to work. Interestingly, as I’ve gone back through my archives of landscape shots, I’ve found a few that in tinkering around seem to be improved by cropping to squares. Here are a handful of recent and not so recent examples.
#5 This has a Japanese feel. Reminds me of Toshio Shibata.
That’s interesting. This is a small mountain lake near where I live - always a great place to catch a shot, especially earlier in the morning. Right now ice fisherman are having at it.
