Way back when

As some of you already know, I just love Fachwerkhäuser (half-timbered houses), and as you have probably seen in other sets in the past, I like taking pictures of them as well.

I came across this garage as I went to meet a friend for dinner at his home. I had never been there before and was 30 minutes early, so I walked around and came upon this little beauty in all its grace, age and dilapidated splendor.

As I carry my trusted photo apparatus at all times in order to be ready for the sudden call of a picture crying out to be taken, I started snapping away. Now this time, as you can see, I decided to put the camera in sepia or B&W mode. I touched them up a bit when I got home, and as I am enjoying playing with the “antique” look these days, I touched them up when I got home.
I tend to see some types of history as B&W, and other types in blazing color. Fachwerkhäuser just seem to me to belong in the B&W category. (Especially since the houses are usually only black and white in the first place :-))

As seen in the last frame, on the train ride home, I decided to scratch out my own little rendition of a half-timbered house myself.

“Bulging at the seams”, literally!

This little door was about 1.5 meters high.

My own version. It's the top two floors ‘cause I couldn’t fit the bottom floor and door into the sketch frame on my mobile.

Great shapes and textures in this little place, I can see why it would call out to you! But I LOVE your sketch! Perhaps because I am envious of anyone who feels 'free' enough to JUST DO IT where as I get anxious even thinking about drawing!
