Pictures deceive

You are looking at photos of the beautiful Lake of Zürich in Switzerland. The Alps are in the background. The water flows from these Alps to fill the lake itself. These waters ultimately make their way into the Rhine, which makes its way through Germany and the Netherlands to the North Sea.

Does anything in the paragraph above make you think “hot”? I would rather doubt it, but it was the hottest weekend Switzerland had experienced in a very, very long time: it was 32°C / 90°F at midnight on Saturday in a land with normally little need for air-conditioning. You can imagine how hot the day was.

It was intense heat, but it was still a very beautiful, wonderful weekend.

You are right you don't normally associate Switzerland with scorching heat, but the weather everywhere has been a little bet odd lately...

Great place to be I have visited Switzerland a few times my sister lived near for a few years, I learnt to water ski on Lac Leman hot yes but cooling waters help.
