Sunset

During a stroll Friday evening, along the river Erdre, thought about this poem from 杜甫 (Du Fu)

Sunset

Sunset glitters on the beads
Of the curtains. Spring flowers
Bloom in the valley. The gardens
Along the river are filled
With perfume. Smoke of cooking
Fires drifts over the slow barges.
Sparrows hop and tumble in
The branches. Whirling insects
Swarm in the air. Who discovered
That one cup of thick wine
Will dispel a thousand cares?
(Poem translated by Kenneth Rexroth)

落日

落日在簾鉤
溪邊春事幽

芳菲緣岸圃
樵爨倚灘舟

啅雀爭枝墜
飛蟲滿院遊

濁醪誰造汝
一酌散千憂

原來有這麼有心的美國詩人翻譯了唐朝詩人的作品,我以前不知道呢。
另外,你的兩張照片都非常漂亮,謝謝分享。smile

Very nice captures of sunset. It's even more amazing that you have the ability to enjoy such ancient Chinese poems. Do you actually know Chinese?

Thank you very much 😊
Yes i can read and understand Chinese (Traditional characters) using the (Japanese) kambun method.

Of course, the pronunciation is different from modern Chinese languages, same as the original pronunciation of this poem from the 8th century, but still, I can enjoy it 😊

Wow, that is so cool. You put me to shame.🙂 I was born and raised in Hong Kong (now I am in Canada), but I don't think my Chinese reading skill can match yours.

Ahah in the other hand, I can't understand modern Chinese !
So your Chinese is way more useful 😄
Also, I would love to learn Cantonese, it's a beautiful and impressive language.

You are very welcome !
I made this picture using a 14 mm lens at F2.8.
If you do the same, or found a better idea along the way, i will be happy to see your work. 😀
