the Salem nuclear power plant is a two unit pressurized water reactor (PWR) nuclear power station in New Jersey. both reactors use Delaware Bay as a source of cooling water

the units have a water-intake building with a rotating screen to collect debris. sometimes thick layers of grass clog the intakes and the reactors run at reduced power for weeks as a result

in the 1990s the Salem reactors were shut down for two years because of maintenance problems. an extensive investigation by consultants have found many problems, such as unreliable controls on a reactor, lack of routine maintenance and low morale among personnel, but declared the plant safe

actor Bruce Willis worked at Salem nuclear power plant as a security guard before pursuing acting

*sigh* these pictures almost make me sad that we gotta get rid of all that majestic radioactive technology... if only life were more fair :-(

Excellent framing on the first shot with the reed in the foreground... otherwise, Russian roulette, isn't it...I wonder how Bruce Willis' morale was while working there...
