Those literary members amongst you will recognise the title as a Graham Greene novel of 1948 which was a film in 1953. I decided I would use a heart theme as it's almost Valentines Day. I make sponge cakes all year round but at Valentines I have small heart shaped baking tins which I use. The photo above is a work in progress and below the finished articles. Betty Crocker icing although I do occasionally make my own icing. I realise this is the 1st time I've photographed food. This tin of roses made from soap leaves was a Valentine's present from my other half. I can't bring myself to use the roses. These heart shaped trinkets are all presents, too. See the next photo for what the top two are. The small silver heart was another Valentine present from my partner (Tom Paterson here on the blog) several years ago and is a pill box. I use it for sweeteners for my hot drinks when out and about. It has been bashed as you can see but is much loved. Cynical work colleagues once commented that they looked like Ecstasy tablets! The bigger heart, a xmas present from his cousin, holds a perfume atomiser and is very heavy so I keep it on my dressing table. The earrings are silver and a gift from his sister (Elizzi here on the blog).
