Unidentified Flying Insect

Spotted this fat flying insect on my buddleia. It isn't a bee and looks too big and fat for a hoverfly. I'm hoping Ricky can identify it for me.

you're right! it is a specie of hoverfly!
it is a [i]Volucella inanis [/i] ;)
