Charleston, South Carolina - Day 1

by Maria August. 08, 2008 1628 views

My friend Andrea and I visited Charleston, South Carolina. This was my first trip to SC and I can't imagine it being my last. Charleston is lovely. It's very historic and it's people work very hard to preserve it - in appearance, tradition and culture. The architecture, ironwork and gardens are amazing! :)

The Calhoun Mansion

The garden is gorgeous!

This is a private residence. Stunning ironwork.

The post office.

One of the Gullah women selling her beautiful sweet grass baskets.

Spanish moss hanging from a tree. It's not spanish and it's not moss. The native americans called it that because it reminded them of the beards that the Spaniards wore.
