Nine Emperor Gods festival in Malaysia

by Marilyn John October. 13, 2007 3400 views

The photos were taken at a temple in Ampang New Village, a settlement located about 10km away from Malaysia's city centre, Kuala Lumpur. The Nine Emperor Gods festival is a Chinese festival celebrating the return of the Nine Emperor spirits from heaven to earth and is held on the ninth day, in the ninth moon in the Chinese lunar calendar.

There's an interesting read written by Cheu Hock Thong entitled the Festival of the Nine Emperor Gods in Malaysia: Myth, Ritual and Symbol both in Adobe Acrobat version [nanzan-u.ac.jp] and HTML version [72.14.235.104]
