It's bitter cold! Some of our shutters are frozen shut this morning! The street is quiet with just a few footprints.
My poor Japanese koi are beneath that ice, which we have to break everyday to give them oxygen.

      The koi "normalment" survive!
The first year we lost a few, however we are better acquainted with how to treat the pond these days. I'm looking forward to taking photos around the pond in the summer.

I'm noticing how much weather is influencing so many of our photographs in this little project, Marilyn, and I have to laugh at my inability to comprehend such cold, coming from a tropical climate. Note that in my picture today I was giddy to capture a small ice pellet that fell with rain, we don't usually see such things.

Are koi able to survive such temperatures? Yikes!

Looking at the views from your windows makes me realize how conducive it is to just staying home, bundled up nice and warm.
