A Special Birthday

Today is my eldest daughter's birthday. She was given this book compiled by my mother on her 30th birthday…mum went onto compiling 4 of these books for her two grand daughters and two grandsons.
The books are treasured as you can imagine.
She recounted her school days, meeting my father, her married life, the births of my sister and I…infact everything pertaining to her family.
Today is a special day to give you a glimpse of her life story.

Given to my daughter on her 30th birthday by her grandmother.

The book contains her life-story together with photos. Above MY grandmother aged 11 years ( taken 1900) with her younger brother Percival together with her parents Edwin and Amelia. My grand daughter therefore has a photograph of her grest, great, great grand parents!

Here my mother describes her early married life…and “yes” that's me on the swing on my 5th birthday…and sister “Jill” in the pram!
N.B. She's listed the prices of food stuffs at that time! She married in 1939.

My mother on an outing with my grand parents. She's in the foreground of the back seat with her 2 brothers and her sister. Her third brother is on my grandmother's lap in the front seat.

Mum died on the 19th June 2002.

How totally amazing. What a wonderful piece of family history, set out with documentation and illustration - really a labour of love and an obvious indication of the time, patience and industry your mother was prepared to put into preserving historical continuity for your daughter. Sorry to hear that she passed away, but she has left you an incredible legacy in this record. You are very fortunate to have had a Mother who realised the value of such documentation.
