Sunset & Shutter Speeds

I belong to a regional photographer’s Facebook group page. This weeks theme is clouds and sky. So when I saw this sunset, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity.

While taking photos, I decided to experiment with different shutter speeds... after all, I am a newbie. It was interesting to me how you can get very different results just by changing shutter speeds. These changes extend far more than just - lighter or darker. Anyway, I thought I’d share one here.

At the right place, at the right time... and with camera in hand. Thank you. 😉

Thanks... it was a great opportunity. This is why I always keep my camera on me.

Mine is a body extension - maybe I'm a prototype of some Terminator or Borg. smile

😂... Yea, I really need to always have it attached to my body. I’ve missed a lot of wildlife shots because I was trying to dig it out of my bag. Wildlife doesn’t tend to wait for me to get my camera out. 😆

I love this! Excellent color!!! So what did you find out, faster or slower shutter speed your preference?

Thank you.

You know, I guess it depends what you are going for. The faster shutter speed gave me dark, rich colors but you lose some of the lighter highlight colors.

For example, with a slower shutter speed I captured some very light orange, blue, and even pink.

Anyway, I opted for this photo with a faster shutter speed. I was partial to the rich colors in this one.
